HDA's mission is to promote and help foster the vibrant Greater Downtown Houston neighborhoods to enhance living, working and playing downtown for the entire Houston community and visitors. This mission takes the form of numerous events created and executed by HDA, the support of the major performing arts companies in the Theater District, the publication of Downtown magazine and numerous email communications, and the marketing support of many downtown events and activities.

Ways in which we do this include:

Communicating and promoting via e-mail newsletter, quarterly magazine Urban Update, websites (downtownhouston.org and houstontheaterdistrict.org);

In the summer of 2003, Downtown Houston Association and the Theater District Association announced a merger, forming Houston Downtown Alliance (HDA), a new entity that operates several distinct programs promoting a vibrant Downtown Houston.
